Lincolnshire Lowlands Search and Rescue

This is a national body manned totally by volunteers.  All the volunteers are trained to the same national standards and qualify for various roles which means each county can operate a reciprocal assistance network.   The primary function is to provide specialist services to Lincolnshire police assisting to search for missing people.  It costs £12000 a year in operating costs and specialist kit.  They have recently purchased a wheeled stretcher for £3500 these costs are funded totally be donation. The team consists of 41, all trained as first aiders with seven medics.  60% of call outs are to autistic, mental health, dementia or suicidal persons. Glenn told us that the best way to be found is by using ‘What Three Words’, an app that provides an easy way to communicate an exact location. The talk ended with members being shown around The Lincolnshire Search and Rescue Specialist Vehicle.  u3a members raised and donated £136 for this worthwhile cause.
